Para ello se estudia la totalidad de procesos de incapacidad temporal por contingencia com\u00fan (itcc) registrados en una mutua de accidentes de trabajo y enfermedades profesionales de la seguridad social durante el periodo 2005-2010 y se mide el efecto que las caracter\u00edsticas personales, organizativas, laborales y del entorno han ejercido sobre la frecuencia, la duraci\u00f3n y el \u00edndice de absentismo. Los resultados muestran el efecto de algunas variables y la influencia del cambio de ciclo econ\u00f3mico en los indicadores de absentismo, as\u00ed como, una variaci\u00f3n temporal de la itcc en funci\u00f3n al d\u00eda de inicio del proceso seg\u00fan el d\u00eda de la semana y el mes del a\u00f1o. Finalmente se discuten las conclusiones obtenidas y se indican recomendaciones para posteriores investigaciones en este campo de estudio. abstract this essay aims to describe the absenteeism and analyze its relationship with different variables from a psychosocial point of view. To this end, we study all the processes related to sickness absence, which were registered in a mutual for workplace accidents and work related illnesses belonging to the spanish national health system, during the period 2005-2010. We have also measured the effect of personal, organizational, labour and environmental characteristics on the frequency, duration and rate of absenteeism. The results show the effect of some variables and the influence of the changing economic cycle upon the indicators of absenteeism; in the same way, they show a temporal variation of the sickness absence, depending on the day the process begins on the week and also on the month of the year. Finally, the conclusions obtained are discussed and recommendations for further research in this field of study are indicated.  palabras clave: absentismo laboral. Factores psicosociales.
