La polimerizaci\u00f3n en emulsi\u00f3n es un complejo proceso heterog\u00e9neo en el cual se incluyen reacciones de polimerizaci\u00f3n y transporte de diferentes especies entre las fases org\u00e1nica y acuosa. El objetivo de esta tesis es el desarrollo de un modelo matem\u00e1tico que simule la polimerizaci\u00f3n en emulsi\u00f3n de producci\u00f3n de l\u00e1tex de estireno butadieno (sbr).Para ello se identificaron y describieron de forma matem\u00e1tica todos los mecanismos que ocurren durante la polimerizaci\u00f3n. Una vez desarrollado el modelo, se realiz\u00f3 un dise\u00f1o de experimentos con el fin de producir diferentes l\u00e1tex de sbr variando diferentes componentes de la formulaci\u00f3n con el fin de validar el modelo y estimar los par\u00e1metros que no se pudieron obtener de la literatura.Una vez validado el modelo, este se empleo en el estudio de diferentes variables de proceso para analizar su efecto en las propiedades finales del l\u00e1tex. Tambi\u00e9n se empleo en la optimaci\u00f3n del proceso de polimerizaci\u00f3n. Se plantearon unas propiedades de l\u00e1tex final como  objetivos, que mediante la optimaci\u00f3n de variables de proceso mediante un modelo de optimaci\u00f3n estos objetivos fueron alcanzados.Por ultimo, se trato de caracterizar la parte gel de dos de los l\u00e1tex producidos. Para ello se realizaron medidas de difusi\u00f3n de mol\u00e9culas a trav\u00e9s del gel hinchado en disolvente con un equipo de resonancia magn\u00e9tica nuclear.
