Aqu\u00ed radica la base de la \u00f3ptica at\u00f3mica en la que luz y materia intercambian sus papeles. A diferencia de la \u00f3ptica cl\u00e1sica en la que la luz es el objeto propagante y la materia es empleada para guiar los haces lum\u00ednicos, en la \u00f3ptica at\u00f3mica la luz se emplea para modificar el estado interno de los \u00e1tomos (materia) que son el objeto propagante. Gracias a la estructura interna que poseen los \u00e1tomos se ganan nuevos grados de libertad internos respecto a la \u00f3ptica cl\u00e1sica, ofreciendo as\u00ed nuevas posibilidades. De esta forma los \u00e1tomos no s\u00f3lo se pueden propagar, tambi\u00e9n pueden ser almacenados en trampas \u00f3pticas, enfriados a temperaturas ultrafr\u00edas dando lugar a nuevos estados de la materia, pueden ser controlados con una gran precisi\u00f3n, &#8230;\tLa presente tesis estudia la din\u00e1mica de las ondas de materia y en particular los denominados efectos transitorios cu\u00e1nticos, caracter\u00edsticas temporales que presentan las ondas de materia antes de alcanzar un estado estacionario. Adem\u00e1s se analizar\u00e1 la din\u00e1mica de las ondas de materia en gu\u00edas de onda l\u00e1ser, proponi\u00e9ndose esta configuraci\u00f3n como diodo at\u00f3mico (dispositivo que consigue que los \u00e1tomos viajen en un \u00fanico sentido independientemente de su movimiento inicial) y como simulador de reacciones  qu\u00edmicas  colineales de 3 cuerpos.
