Se trata de estudiar este factor como uno de los elementos en que se fundament\u00f3 su progreso y puesta al d\u00eda. \t el trabajo no consiste en catalogar edificios y arquitectos en funci\u00f3n del empleo de estos materiales y t\u00e9cnicas, ni se propone simplemente hacer una dataci\u00f3n cronol\u00f3gica de su incorporaci\u00f3n, sino que se pretende mostrar como en el caso de espa\u00f1a la arquitectura moderna no surge s\u00f3lo como moda estil\u00edstica, sino como resultado sobre todo de una exploraci\u00f3n consciente de las posibilidades formales y espaciales que los nuevos medios constructivos hac\u00edan posibles.  \t la investigaci\u00f3n se centra en estudiar como la aproximaci\u00f3n de ciertos arquitectos espa\u00f1oles a la dimensi\u00f3n constructiva de la arquitectura coincide con las ideas que propusieron varias d\u00e9cadas antes algunos precursores del movimiento moderno. El trabajo comienza con una primera parte dedicada a estudiar los principios tect\u00f3nicos que encauzaron la arquitectura occidental hacia la modernidad, para ver posteriormente como los arquitectos espa\u00f1oles asumieron estos principios como consecuencia de un uso intuitivo, sincero y coherente de los nuevos medios constructivos, poniendo al d\u00eda, casi sin querer, la arquitectura
