Forma parte de la microbiota del tracto gastrointestinal y urogenital de individuos sanos sin producir enfermedad. Sin embargo, alteraciones en el sistema inmunitario pueden lleva r a una infecci\u00f3n sist\u00e9mica. Las rutas mediadas por prote\u00ednas quinasas activadas por mit\u00f3geno (mapk) en c. Albicans son importantes determinantes de virulencia. En este trabajo se ha estudiado la influencia de las diferentes rutas de mapk en procesos como la exposici\u00f3n del beta-(1,3)-glucano de la pared celular f\u00fangica, la interacci\u00f3n con c\u00e9lulas del hospedador (incluyendo c\u00e9lulas epiteliales, macr\u00f3fagos y progenitores hematopoy\u00e9ticos de m\u00e9dula \u00f3sea o hpsc) y la colonizaci\u00f3n gastrointestinal en rat\u00f3n. La interrupci\u00f3n de la ruta de invasividad (mediada por cek1) se relaciona con una mayor exposici\u00f3n de beta-(1,3)-glucano en la pared celular, una mayor activaci\u00f3n de macr\u00f3fagos, la alteraci\u00f3n en la maduraci\u00f3n de hpsc y un defecto en la coloniz aci\u00f3n a largo plazo. La deleci\u00f3n de hog1 (ruta hog) implica una mayor activaci\u00f3n de macr\u00f3fagos y un defecto total en la capacidad de establecer una colonizaci\u00f3n.
