From this analysis we expect to obtain evidence on the effects of a flexible exchange rate policy in the transables sectors. If the trade balance of goods deteriorates, we assume that the export portfolio of a country fails to reach higher levels of produced value-added. in this regard, we then try to determine the effect in microeconomic factors. For instance, it would be expected that, in certain conditions, a more depreciated currency should provoke lower incentives in the investment on technological breakthrough.  finally, we are interested to study the effects of a higher (lower) inflation rates in research and development investments. In this section of the thesis, we try to figure out how this macroeconomic variable affects technological breakthroughs needed to achieve higher levels of competitiveness in countries.  in sort, we
