Isabel <\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>En los organismos pluricelulares, la progresi\u00f3n por el ciclo celular esta regulada por la actividad de una familia de serina-treonina quinasas, las quinasas dependientes de ciclina o cdks. Para ser activas, las cdks deben asociarse a ciclinas. En cada etapa del ciclo celular se activa un complejo ciclina-cdk especifico. Adem\u00e1s de la union a ciclina, la actividad de las cdks tambien esta regulada mediante reacciones de fosforilacion\/defosforilacion, en las que juega un papel muy importante cdc25a. Esta fosfatasa defosforila cdk2 en complejo con ciclina e y a. Otro punto importante de regulaci\u00f3n de los complejos ciclina-cdk es la uni\u00f3n de proteinas inhibidoras. Existen dos familias de inhibidores de cdks: familia ink4 y familia cip\/kip. La proteina p21 pertenece a esta \u00faltima. Descrita inicialmente como inhibidor de cdks, posteriormente se ha visto que inhibe la actividad de los complejos ciclina e\/a-cdk2 pero activa los complejos ciclina d-cdk4\/6.  la regeneraci\u00f3n hep\u00e1tica inducida por hepatectomia parcial constituye un buen modelo de estudio del ciclo celular. El h\u00edgado de un animal adulto consta principalmente de hepatocitos, celulas que no se dividen.
