Hasta la fecha, lateor\u00eda tradicional de gesti\u00f3n de la producci\u00f3n y operaciones ha desatendido al sector de bienesde equipo. Un sector que presenta un contexto competitivo extremo en el cual los productosm\u00e1quinason de gran tama\u00f1o, precisan de importantes actividades de ingenier\u00eda, son altamentepersonalizados y tienen un coste elevado. Adem\u00e1s, su demanda es muy dif\u00edcil de predecir y eltiempo requerido para el aprovisionamiento de componentes y las operaciones fabricaci\u00f3n ymontaje del producto-m\u00e1quina final son superiores al plazo de entrega demandado por elmercado. Por todo ello, las estrategias tradiciones de cumplimentaci\u00f3n de pedidos han resultadoen muchas ocasiones no viables.La presente tesis presenta en primer lugar un modelo conceptual cualitativo del sistemaproducto-proceso-red de suministro que permite caracterizar nueve retos clave para las redes desuministro del sector de bienes de equipo. En segundo lugar, proporciona un simulador basadoen agentes, desarrollo y validado sobre la base emp\u00edrica de distintos casos de estudios, queimplementa de forma cuantitativa el modelo conceptual previo. A continuaci\u00f3n, presentadistintas simulaciones de estructuras de familia de producto (i.E. Integradas vs. Modulares),distintas pol\u00edticas de operaciones (i.E. Estrategias de cumplimentaci\u00f3n de pedidos, criteriosalternativos de reconfiguraci\u00f3n y sustituci\u00f3n de m\u00e1quinas, y niveles de capacidad de la red desuministro) as\u00ed como distintos escenarios de demanda (i.E. Vol\u00famenes de demanda, tiempos deservicio, y niveles de variedad de producto). Como resultado se han obtenido un conjunto denuevas pr\u00e1cticas de gesti\u00f3n estad\u00edsticamente significativas. Dichas pr\u00e1cticas mejoran eldesempe\u00f1o de indicadores clave del sector, i.E. Tiempo de servicio de la red de suministro, costede producto-m\u00e1quina, porcentaje de pedidos rechazados y n\u00famero de unidades de productom\u00e1quinahu\u00e9rfanas.El uso de m\u00e9todos de modelado y simulaci\u00f3n propios de los sistemas complejos, como elsistema multi-agente desarrollado en esta tesis, facilita la futura exploraci\u00f3n del desempe\u00f1o delsistema producto-proceso-red de suministro ante un rango significativo de posibles nuevasreglas de comportamiento de los agentes ante distintos eventos del entorno, y por tanto, lainvestigaci\u00f3n en nuevos
