Cell survival obtained with pase after exposure to 10 gy of x-rays showed a protection factor of 86% in normal prostate epithelial cells (pnt2) (p&lt;0.001) and a protection factor of 41% (p&lt;0.001) in the metastatic b16f10 melanoma cells after 48h of incubation and exposure to 10 gy of x-rays. pase demonstrated a significant radioprotective capacity higher than other radioprotective agents used in radiation oncology and similar to other substances tested in different radiobiological models.  key words: radiation effects, radioprotectors, toxicity, anticlastogenic, plant extracts   se pretende la obtenci\u00f3n de un extracto de semillas de p.Angolensis (pase) para  determinar su capacidad protectora contra el da\u00f1o inducido por rayos x, as\u00ed como compararla con otros radioprotectores utilizados en radioterapia y en radiobiolog\u00eda. pase present\u00f3 una capacidad genoprotectora significativa (p&lt;0,001) frente al da\u00f1o inducido por rayos x con un factor de protecci\u00f3n del 25-35% y factor de reducci\u00f3n de dosis entre 2,5-3,7, dependiendo del momento de administraci\u00f3n. La supervivencia celular tras la exposici\u00f3n a 10gy de rayos x mostr\u00f3 un factor de protecci\u00f3n del 86% en las c\u00e9lulas epiteliales de pr\u00f3stata (pnt2) (p&lt;0,001) y un factor de protecci\u00f3n del 41% (p&lt;0,001) en las c\u00e9lulas de melanoma b16f10 tras exposici\u00f3n a 10gy de rayos x y 48h de incubaci\u00f3n. el pase demuestra una capacidad radioprotectora significativamente mayor que otros agentes radioprotectores utilizados en oncolog\u00eda radioter\u00e1pica y similar a otras sustancias consideradas como radioprotectoras en  modelos
