Fueron repartidos en tres grupos: tratamiento, control y avanzado. Una vez obtenido el consentimiento informado, se aplic\u00f3 el m\u00e9todo dise\u00f1ado de clases pr\u00e1cticas de taiji quan y qigong en el grupo tratamiento; sobre el grupo control no se aplic\u00f3 tratamiento alguno y en el avanzado (participantes del a\u00f1o anterior hab\u00edan recibido un segundo tratamiento similar) se repiti\u00f3 el tratamiento. Se utilizaron los cuestionarios ghq12 y pss14 para medir salud mental percibida y estr\u00e9s percibido respectivamente adem\u00e1s de otras variables demogr\u00e1ficas, laborales y sociales, de inter\u00e9s y comportamiento hacia la actividad f\u00edsica y motivacionales.  los resultados revelaron una mejora sustancial de salud mental percibida despu\u00e9s del de mes de tratamiento y un adecuado control de estr\u00e9s percibido, volviendo ambos a las cifras de la poblaci\u00f3n sana. El estr\u00e9s percibido  mantuvo un nivel inferior de partida en el grupo avanzado revelando de esta forma la permanencia en el tiempo de los resultados obtenidos.  como conclusi\u00f3n se destaca que el taiji quan y qigong son alternativas v\u00e1lidas para controlar el estr\u00e9s a corto y medio plazo y su influencia permanece en el tiempo. No existe correlaci\u00f3n con la edad por lo que es efectivo en cualquier tramo de edad. Otras afirmaciones que se desprenden del an\u00e1lisis de resultados son: (1) el nivel de estr\u00e9s en las empleadas p\u00fablicas es mayor que en los empleados; (2) los participantes que realizan actividad f\u00edsica sufren menos estr\u00e9s que los sedentarios; (3) aproximadamente la mitad de la muestra se encuentra por encima de su peso ideal; (4) las personas que practican actividad f\u00edsica m\u00e1s de tres veces por semana son las que menos estr\u00e9s sufren; (5) m\u00e1s de la mitad de los empleados p\u00fablicos tienen h\u00e1bitos saludables y practican actividad f\u00edsica y est\u00e1n en su peso ideal; (6) los participantes sin h\u00e1bitos saludables sufren m\u00e1s estr\u00e9s percibido; y por \u00faltimo, (7) los participantes buscan en las actividades f\u00edsicas la relajaci\u00f3n, el esparcimiento y el conocimiento de nuevas t\u00e9cnicas.  palabras clave: salud laboral, prevenci\u00f3n de estr\u00e9s, enfermer\u00eda, promoci\u00f3n de la salud  this research focuses on the promotion of the mental health of civil servants in and around murcia using taiji quan and qigong. This model of stress control uses physical activity as an essential means of modifying lifestyles. the aim was to analyze the influence of taiji quan and qigong on levels of perceived stress in civil servants after the completion of a one month theoretical and practical training programme, and then to assess whether the observed effects endured for one year. the research used a quasi-experimental design with a sample of 458 people chosen for their high level of work stress. They were divided into three groups: treatment, monitoring and advanced. After obtaining informed consent, we applied the designed practical classes of taiji quan and qigong in the treatment group; no treatment was applied to the monitoring group and in the advanced (previous year participants which had received the same treatment) treatment was repeated. Two questionnaires were used to measure perceived mental health (ghq12) and perceived stress (pss14). In addition,  other demographic variables, labor and social interest and physical activity behavior and motivational were taken into account the results revealed a substantial improvement in perceived mental health after the month of treatment and a measurable control of perceived stress. The perceived stress in the advanced group maintained a lower starting level thereby revealing the permanence time of the results. in conclusion, taiji quan and qigong are valuables alternatives for the control of stress and the promotion of mental health in the short and medium term, and his influence remains in time. No correlation with age making it effective in any age group. Among other findings we could add the followings: (1) the results show the level of stress is higher on female public employees versus males; (2) participants who exercise suffer less stress than sedentary; (3) almost half of the sample is above their ideal weight; (4) people who practice physical activity more than three times per week have less stressful experience; (5) more than half of participants are practicing healthy habits and physical activity and are at their ideal weight; (6) participants without healthy habits suffer more perceived stress; and at last, (7) participants
