En ambos casos, se ha empleado la t\u00e9cnica de iluminaci\u00f3n lateral y se han variado las condiciones de excitaci\u00f3n sobre la fibra.  Los resultados te\u00f3ricos y experimentales obtenidos en el an\u00e1lisis de la luz dispersada por la fibra (intensidad total, campo cercano y lejano y dependencia espectral) permiten estimar el tama\u00f1o, la naturaleza y la posici\u00f3n de los centros dispersores que provocan un exceso de dispersi\u00f3n en fop. El modelo te\u00f3rico para describir la dispersi\u00f3n de la luz ha sido desarrollado aplicando la teor\u00eda mie para esferas en la aproximaci\u00f3n de dispersi\u00f3n independiente.  Asimismo, se ha conseguido un buen acuerdo entre el \u00e1ngulo cr\u00edtico de la emisi\u00f3n en fop dopadas calculado te\u00f3ricamente y el medido experimentalmente.
