Para definir el marco te\u00f3rico que sustenta el trabajo se analiza el rol del  docente en la actualidad, sus competencias y las tic en cuanto a su conceptualizaci\u00f3n, presencia y caracter\u00edsticas, vistas desde la posibilidad de integrarlas en la educaci\u00f3n superior.  Se realiza un estudio descriptivo basado en la t\u00e9cnica de encuesta; los participantes en la encuesta son formadores de formadores de rep\u00fablica dominicana. Los resultados m\u00e1s relevantes se relacionan con la determinaci\u00f3n del acceso, frecuencia de uso, competencias y aplicaci\u00f3n pr\u00e1ctica de las tic en su ejercicio profesional, as\u00ed como sus niveles de motivaci\u00f3n y percepci\u00f3n de su uso en t\u00e9rminos de eficiencia. Por la representatividad de la muestra, los resultados son de inter\u00e9s para el dise\u00f1o de planes de formaci\u00f3n y para abrir en rep\u00fablica dominicana esta l\u00ednea de investigaci\u00f3n sobre competencias tic del profesorado universitario.       palabras claves tic, formador de formadores, competencias, educaci\u00f3n, sistema educativo superior, rep\u00fablica dominicana.  abstract  in this thesis we analize the information -and- communication technologys (ict) competencies shown by professors who are responsible of teachers training in high level system and we also analize the real use of ict in their contexts. Several aspects were addressed al the light of different actors related to the teacher&apos;s role today. The ict were approached from the standpoint of its conceptualization, presence and main features bearing in mind the feasibility of its integration into the educational process. This study describes the context in which they are developed and the actors involved in the process. Our method is based on cuantitative approach and we have used a questionnaire for universitary teachers in education field. The principal outstanding outputs are related with the determination of the access, frequency of usage, availability, competencies and practical application of ict carried out by professors on their educational practices as well as their levels of motivation and perception of their use in terms of efficiency. This research is the first in the country, so it opens this field of research in dominican republic and it can be useful to define national plans for future training. key words: ict, teacher trainer,
