Acutalmente se estima que entre 16 y 18 millones de personas en sudam\u00e9rica padecen esta enfermedad. El control de la misma se est\u00e1 logrando mediante programas de erradicaci\u00f3n del vector y control de los bancos de sangre. Pero todav\u00eda no se ha logrado un tratamiento eficaz. Los f\u00e1rmacos existentes, nifurtimox y benzonidazol, s\u00f3lo son activos en la fase aguda y producen graves efectos secundarios en el paciente, por lo que la quimioterapia de la tripanosomosis americana sigue siendo un campo abierto a la investigaci\u00f3n.  en este trabajo se ha realizado el cribado faramcol\u00f3gico de cuatro series qu\u00edmicas: derivados de tetrahidro-2h 1,3,5-tiadiazin-2-tiona-3,5-disustituidos, derivados de 1,1-di\u00f3xido de 1,2,6-tiadiazin-3,5-diona, derivados de nitro-ariliden malononitrilos y 5-aril-metilidenamino derivados de 2-toluensulfonamida. se ha evaluado la actividad in vitro, citotoxicidad inespec\u00edfica y efectividad in vivo.  por otra parte se han desarrollado y estandarizado t\u00e9cnicas para la determinaci\u00f3n de la actividad de productos de s\u00edntesis sobre cultivos de epimastigotes. En primer lugar, un m\u00e9todo colorim\u00e9trico, empleando bromuro de 3-(4,5-dimetiliazol-2-il)-2,5-difeniltetrazolio (mtt), capaz de evaluar la viabilidad de un cultivo  sin necesidad del teidoso y subjetivo recuento microsc\u00f3pico. En segundo lugar, un m\u00e9todo que utilizando t\u00e9cnicas de biolog\u00eda molecular, relaciona la sobre-expresi\u00f3n de hsp60 (prote\u00edna de choque t\u00e9rmico) de estos par\u00e1sitos, con una actividad del producto.
