Uno de las partes del proyecto en un biorrector de nitrificacion biologica, dicha parte es la que se desarrolla en el presente trabajo. Se ha realizado la caracterizacion de la operaci\u00f3n del proceso de nitrificacion biologica en forma de biopelicula en reactores de lecho fijo, para lo cual se han utilizado un reactor a escala piloto (de aproximadamente 8 l de volumen total), y tres reactores a escala laboratorio (de 0.65 ml de volumen total) con las bacterias nitrosomonas europaea (atcc 19718) y nitrobacter winogradskyi(atcc 25391) inmovilizadas sobre cuentas de poliestireno (byostyr (r)).  dentro de la parte de desarrollo de los reactores, se implemento la instrumentacion basica y se configuro el control de las principales variables biotecnologicas que afectan al proceso de nitrificacion biol\u00f3gica en biopelicula: ph, temperatura, oxigeno disuelto, presion, control de nivel, etc. Para profundizar en el conocimiento de este tipo de reactores se realizo una caracterizacion fisica en la que principalmente se estudio la mezcla de la fase liquida y la determinacion del coeficiente de transferencia de oxigeno de la fase gas a la liquida. posteriormente se definio y valido un modelo que permite describir la mezcla de la fase liquida en los reactores de lecho fijo que se utilizaron.  con ambos tipos de biorreactores se realizaron experimentos en continuo de nitrificacion biol\u00f3gica para determinar el efecto de las principales variables que afectan al proceso: carga amoniacal, temperatura y oxigeno disuelto.
