En la presente tesis doctoral se ha planteado la b\u00fasqueda de nuevos sistemas h\u00edbridos en base de pol\u00edmeros biodegradables como alternativa a los sistemas de sutura y adhesivos tisulares existentes en oftalmolog\u00eda. Por tanto, el objetivo principal de esta tesis doctoral ha sido desarrollar un adhesivo que sea biocompatible y biodegradable basado en biopol\u00edmeros para su aplicaci\u00f3n en cirug\u00eda oft\u00e1lmica. Para ello se desarrollaron y estudiaron varias formulaciones basadas en biopol\u00edmeros o sistemas h\u00edbridos formados por un biopol\u00edmero y un componente activo. El desarrollo de la tesis doctoral implic\u00f3 en una primera instancia realizar un estudio screening de adhesividad in vitro ex vivo para seleccionar aquellos biopol\u00edmeros que presentan buena adhesividad, adhesividad media o no adhesividad pero con buenas caracter\u00edsticas de compatibilidad y degradaci\u00f3n para ser utilizados en otras formulaciones h\u00edbridas. En el caso de los pol\u00edmeros con media adhesividad o no adhesividad, se les realizaron modificaciones con el fin de intentar mejorar sus propiedades adhesivas. Estas modificaciones comprenden desde la mezcla de pol\u00edmeros, la obtenci\u00f3n de copol\u00edmeros y la modificaci\u00f3n superficial de los pol\u00edmeros previamente estudiados por medio de un tratamiento plasma. Se ha observado que de todos los materiales testados elpoli(d,l-lactida-co-glicolida) (plga) resulta ser el biopol\u00edmero m\u00e1s adecuado para formar nuevos sistemas h\u00edbridos en combinaci\u00f3n de un biopol\u00edmero natural como es la fibrina. Por \u00faltimo, las nuevas mezclas de pol\u00edmeros que no cumplen todas las exigencias para ser utilizadas como adhesivos en la cirug\u00eda ocular han sido ampliamente caracterizadas y estudiadas
