En relaci\u00f3n a otros territorios m\u00e1s septentrionales de la pen\u00ednsula ib\u00e9rica, esta zona constituye a\u00fan un territorio con una informaci\u00f3n paleobot\u00e1nica escasa, aunque durante los \u00faltimos a\u00f1os la situaci\u00f3n ha cambiado favorablemente. Partiendo de una revisi\u00f3n de evidencias paleobot\u00e1nicas, fundamentalmente, pero tambi\u00e9n paleoambientales, otro de sus objetivos fue la contextualizaci\u00f3n dentro del \u00e1mbito peninsular de la din\u00e1mica vegetal durante el holoceno en el sureste ib\u00e9rico semi\u00e1rido. la metodolog\u00eda empleada ha consistido en el an\u00e1lisis pol\u00ednico de sedimentos procedentes de un dep\u00f3sito cuaternario de naturaleza paleolacustre localizado en el litoral de mazarr\u00f3n (murcia, sureste de espa\u00f1a). Este an\u00e1lisis ha permitido la identificaci\u00f3n taxon\u00f3mica, mediante microscop\u00eda \u00f3ptica, de una gran diversidad de granos de polen y esporas de plantas vasculares, as\u00ed como de otros microf\u00f3siles no pol\u00ednicos (esporas f\u00fangicas, zig\u00f3sporas algales, esporas de bri\u00f3fitos, partes del exoesqueleto de insectos, restos y mudas de \u00e1caros, acritarcos y otros tipos palinol\u00f3gicos de afinidad biol\u00f3gica incierta). Sobre las mismas preparaciones para microscop\u00eda \u00f3ptica se ha llevado a cabo, adem\u00e1s, el recuento de microcarbones. Estos \u00faltimos han aportado informaci\u00f3n de gran utilidad acerca de la din\u00e1mica de paleofuegos.  el posterior tratamiento gr\u00e1fico y estad\u00edstico de los hallazgos obtenidos, a partir de estos an\u00e1lisis, ha permitido la obtenci\u00f3n de una nueva secuencia paleopalinol\u00f3gica, la primera de origen paleolagunar para el litoral de la regi\u00f3n de murcia, situada adem\u00e1s en el piso bioclim\u00e1tico termomediterr\u00e1neo y junto a un destacado yacimiento arqueol\u00f3gico, cuya secuencia ocupacional data de la edad del bronce y para el que disponemos de informaci\u00f3n antracol\u00f3gica.  los resultados de doce dataciones radicarb\u00f3nicas basadas en el contenido de carbono org\u00e1nico total presente en muestras de sedimento procedentes del mismo testigo empleado para el an\u00e1lisis pol\u00ednico, sit\u00faan esta nueva secuencia paleopalinol\u00f3gica dentro de un intervalo temporal comprendido entre c. 7617 y 1569 a\u00f1os cal. Bp. en esta tesis se ha ensayado tambi\u00e9n el an\u00e1lisis pol\u00ednico en otro sistema paleolagunar litoral (calblanque) y en tres yacimientos paleontol\u00f3gicos (fonelas p-1, mencal-9 y cueva victoria), todos emplazados en el sureste ib\u00e9rico, pero que resultaron palinol\u00f3gicamente est\u00e9riles.  junto al an\u00e1lisis pol\u00ednico se ha llevado a cabo una revisi\u00f3n bibliogr\u00e1fica que ha permitido situar la secuencia de mazarr\u00f3n en un contexto tanto regional como peninsular, constat\u00e1ndose un alto grado de correlaci\u00f3n con otros registros pol\u00ednicos regionales. Al igual que en muchas otras secuencias del sureste peninsular, podemos distinguir un \u00f3ptimo termomesof\u00edtico durante el holoceno medio seguido de un aumento progresivo de la aridez a lo largo del holoceno superior con p\u00e9rdida de biodiversidad vegetal, regresi\u00f3n, fragmentaci\u00f3n e incluso extinci\u00f3n local de poblaciones de \u00e1rboles, mayoritariamente mes\u00f3filos, cuyos efectos m\u00e1s acusados acontecen en per\u00edodos relativamente recientes. En relaci\u00f3n a este proceso de deforestaci\u00f3n se detectan importantes asincron\u00edas entre territorios pr\u00f3ximos, lo que pone de manifiesto la importancia de otros condicionantes, adem\u00e1s de los de naturaleza clim\u00e1tica en la respuesta vegetal. entre los rasgos a destacar de esta nueva secuencia se hallan: (a) una presencia continuada de pinus a lo largo de todo el registro, (b) una extraordinaria abundancia de pistacia, (c) una correlaci\u00f3n positiva entre la variaci\u00f3n de pistacia y el grupo de quercus perennifolios, (d) la presencia de taxa termoxerof\u00edticos iberomagreb\u00edes, (e) una gran diversidad de esporas de hongos sapr\u00f3fitos, (f) un notable incremento de olea al final de la secuencia y (g) la aparici\u00f3n de indicadores de actividades antr\u00f3picas desde pr\u00e1cticamente el inicio de la secuencia.   palaeoenvironments in southeastern spain: new palynological data and discussion in the context of iberian peninsula   abstract  the present phd thesis is primarily aimed at improving our knowledge on the quaternary vegetation in southeastern spain, a region with relatively poor paleobotanical information in comparison with northernmost areas of iberian peninsula. In addition, here i provide a discussion of the semiarid southeastern vegetation dynamics in a peninsular framework over the holocene. the methodology includes pollen analyses of sediments from a palaeolacustrine deposit situated at the mazarr\u00f3n littoral which has allowed the taxonomic identification of a great diversity of pollen grains and spores of vascular plants as well as non-pollen palynomorphs (fungal spores, algal zygospores, bryophyte spores, parts of exoskeleton of insects, remains and moults of dust mites, acritarchs and other palynological types of unknown biological affinity) by means of optical microscopy. Microcharcoals were also counted on the same pollen slides than pollen thus giving information of about fire dynamics. The palaeoecological sequence investigated here represents the first littoral, lacustrine record for the region. It is also worth mentioning that this sequence lies in the thermomediterranean belt and close to an outstanding archaeological site with an occupational sequence that dates from the bronze age and for which there is anthracological information available. the results of twelve radiocarbon datings based on total organic carbon (toc) content of sediment samples from the same core used for palynological analysis have placed the mazarr\u00f3n sequence between c. 7617 and 1569 cal. Years bp. other pollen analyses have been essayed for this thesis, but the deposits became sterile after laboratory processing of sediments. The non-polleniferous sites include the peatlands of calblanque, a coastal palaeolacustrine system, and three paleontological sites rich in vertebrate fauna, namely fonelas p-1, mencal-9 and cueva victoria. These sites date from late pliocene to early pleistocene. the mazarr\u00f3n palaeoecological record exhibits a mid-holocene, thermo-mesophytic optimum followed by a progressive increase in aridity throughout late holocene with a loss of plant biodiversity, retreat, fragmentation and even local extinction of tree populations, mainly broad-leaf trees. However, the more pronounced effects of this ecological depletion took place during relatively recent times. Regardless the general trend, this deforestation pattern shows asynchronies between relatively nearby territories thus suggesting the importance of ecological factors in the vegetation response to climatic change. the main characteristics of the mazarr\u00f3n sequence are: (a) a continuous presence of pinus throughout the record, (b) an extraordinary abundance of pistacia, (c) a positive correlation between the variation of pistacia and evergreen quercus, (d) the presence of ibero-maghrebian thermoxerophitic taxa, (e) a variety of saprophytic fungal spores, (f) an increase of olea at
