Los cambios que se producen a nivel social, como el incremento de la esperanza de vida, envejecimiento de la poblaci\u00f3n, movimientos migratorios, pol\u00edticas econ\u00f3micas, incorporaci\u00f3n de las nuevas tecnolog\u00edas de la informaci\u00f3n y de la comunicaci\u00f3n, acceso ilimitado a la informaci\u00f3n tanto de los usuarios como de los profesionales. Adem\u00e1s, el \u00e1mbito de las ciencias de la salud est\u00e1 sometido al desarrollo de nuevas tecnolog\u00edas, aparici\u00f3n de nuevas enfermedades y avances en el conocimiento cient\u00edfico (avances biom\u00e9dicos y t\u00e9cnicas m\u00e1s avanzadas) y sobre todo a la necesidad de un cuidado hol\u00edstico, que englobe todas las necesidades del paciente. todo esto genera la necesidad por parte de la enfermera de una continua actualizaci\u00f3n de su formaci\u00f3n para poder asegurar una atenci\u00f3n de calidad al cliente\/paciente. En base a lo anteriormente expuesto, surgen cuestiones como \u00c2\u00bfel profesional de enfermer\u00eda recibe formaci\u00f3n post-universitaria (formaci\u00f3n continuada)? Si existe esa formaci\u00f3n, \u00c2\u00bfes adecuada a las necesidades de los profesionales? \u00c2\u00bfqu\u00e9 formaci\u00f3n es necesaria para estar m\u00e1s capacitado en su pr\u00e1ctica profesional?  con el objetivo de responder a estas preguntas, la presente tesis doctoral se ha desarrollado con el fin de: 1. Identificar la formaci\u00f3n acad\u00e9mica de postgrado de los profesionales de enfermer\u00eda y su adecuaci\u00f3n al puesto de trabajo.  2. Conocer el acceso y barreras de los profesionales de enfermer\u00eda para una formaci\u00f3n continuada.  3. Identificar las asociaciones entre la formaci\u00f3n continuada del profesional y determinadas variables sociodemogr\u00e1ficas y laborales. 4. Conocer la demanda formativa del profesional de enfermer\u00eda. para dar respuesta a estos objetivos se desarroll\u00f3 una herramienta de recogida de datos disponible a trav\u00e9s de la p\u00e1gina web http:\/\/enfermeriadocente.Es. Esta herramienta incluye una primera secci\u00f3n de preguntas demogr\u00e1ficas y socio-laborales, m\u00e1s 4 bloques de preguntas relacionadas con la formaci\u00f3n de las enfermeras. El cuestionario fue auto cumplimentado por un total de 319 enfermeras que participaron voluntariamente en el presente estudio, durante los meses de enero-diciembre de 2012.  tras analizar los datos obtenidos a trav\u00e9s de esta herramienta, los resultados indican que la mayor parte de las enfermeras consultadas (53,4%) considera que su formaci\u00f3n no es adecuada al puesto de trabajo. Adem\u00e1s, casi dos terceras partes (72,3%) encuentran barreras, en especial relacionado con factores organizativos y econ\u00f3micos, que limitan el acceso a continuar con la formaci\u00f3n. Dentro de las diferentes necesidades de formaci\u00f3n propuestas, la formaci\u00f3n en cuidados intensivos y m\u00e9dico\/quir\u00fargica fueron las m\u00e1s demandadas. Por \u00faltimo, consideramos importante destacar que la formaci\u00f3n previa va a repercutir significativamente en la percepci\u00f3n sobre sus necesidades de formaci\u00f3n. Teniendo en cuenta estos datos, podemos confirmar que la formaci\u00f3n continuada que reciben los profesionales de enfermer\u00eda no es adecuada a la actividad que desempe\u00f1an.  es necesario desarrollar nuevas estrategias de formaci\u00f3n continuada m\u00e1s adecuadas a las necesidades de los profesionales de enfermer\u00eda, que tengan en cuenta las limitaciones a las que se enfrentan y poder conseguir de esta forma prestar una atenci\u00f3n sanitaria m\u00e1s apropiada y especializada que permita satisfacer las necesidades de los clientes\/pacientes, y asegurar la calidad del servicio prestado.    abstract nowadays, nurses has to deal with some challenges or changes from its usual practice, due to the transformation that society has undergone (increased life expectancy, demographic changes, new economic policies and access unlimited to information), changes in the complexity of the techniques to perform (biomedical advances and sophisticated techniques) and especially the need for holistic care that encompasses all the needs of the patient. this situation leads nurses to be constantly updated, in order to ensure customer\/patient quality treatment. Therefore, questions arise as is received an adequate postgraduate training? What training is required to be more competent in their professional practice? therefore, in order to answer these questions, this thesis has been developed to: 1. Identify the academic training of nurses and their suitability for the job. 2. Knowing the barriers to access and nurses for continuing education. 3. Identify partnerships between professional training and selected sociodemographic and work-related factors. 4. Knowing your training requirements. to meet these objectives, a data collection tool available through the website http:\/\/enfermeriadocente.Es was developed. This tool includes a first section of social and working questions, plus 4 blocks of questions related to the nurses&apos; training. The survey was performed on a total of 314 nurses who voluntarily participated in this study, from january to december of 2012. after analyzing the data obtained through this tool, our data indicated that the greater part of nurses surveyed (53.4 %) believe that their training is inadequate. Almost two thirds (72.3 %) showed barriers, especially related to organizational and economic factors that limit their access to continuing training. Among the different proposals training needs, training in intensive care and medical\/surgical were the most requested. Finally, it is important to note that the prior training of nurses will have significant impact on the perception that they have about their training needs. Given these data, we can confirm that the training given to nurses at this moment is inadequate. In addition, we have been able to demonstrate the existence of barriers to continuous training, and that training needs are focused primarily in intensive care and medical\/surgical training. in summary, it is important to develop new learning strategies best suited to the present needs of nurses and takes into account the constraints which they must face, in order to get a more adequate and
