Objetivos: el objetivo general de este estudio fue realizar un meta-an\u00e1lisis para analizar la evidencia sobre la relaci\u00f3n entre las variables "adherencia del terapeuta" y "competencia del terapeuta" y los resultados del tratamiento psicol\u00f3gico aplicado. Este objetivo general se subdividi\u00f3 en seis objetivos espec\u00edficos y se formularon dos hip\u00f3tesis. La primera de ellas es que existe una correlaci\u00f3n positiva, aunque probablemente estad\u00edsticamente no significativa, entre el grado de adherencia del terapeuta y la eficacia del tratamiento. La segunda hip\u00f3tesis fue igualmente planteada, aunque respecto a la variable "competencia del terapeuta". Estas hip\u00f3tesis se sustentaron en los hallazgos de investigaciones anteriores. Metodolog\u00eda: se llev\u00f3 a cabo una b\u00fasqueda informatizada en las bases de datos: medline, psycinfo, pubmed, psycarticles, psicodoc, eric, isi web of knowledge, academic search premier, biblioteca cochrane plus y google acad\u00e9mico, incluyendo estudios realizados entre 1950 y septiembre de 2013. Se utilizaron los descriptores en ingl\u00e9s "therapist adherence and outcome" y "therapist competence and outcome" y en castellano "adherencia del terapeuta and resultados" y "competencia del terapeuta and resultados", que deb\u00edan aparecer en el t\u00edtulo, resumen o en ambas partes del trabajo. Finalmente se obtuvieron 24 art\u00edculos de los que se extrajeron 31 estudios; 24 sobre la "adherencia del terapeuta" y 12 sobre la "competencia del terapeuta". Para codificar las caracter\u00edsticas de los diferentes estudios, se elabor\u00f3 una plantilla y un manual de codificaci\u00f3n que incluy\u00f3 74 \u00edtems. La variable de resultado identificada en cada estudio fue aquella que reflejaba el tama\u00f1o del efecto de la relaci\u00f3n directa encontrada entre las variables: "adherencia del terapeuta al protocolo de tratamiento" y eficacia del tratamiento; y "competencia del terapeuta" y eficacia del tratamiento. El estad\u00edstico aportado por los estudios que estimaba el tama\u00f1o del efecto objeto de nuestros an\u00e1lisis fue el coeficiente de correlaci\u00f3n de pearson. Se analizaron dos meta-an\u00e1lisis por separado, uno para la correlaci\u00f3n entre "adherencia del terapeuta" y eficacia del tratamiento, y otro para la correlaci\u00f3n entre "competencia del terapeuta" y eficacia del tratamiento. Resultados: se obtuvo una correlaci\u00f3n media positiva (r+ = .232) y estad\u00edsticamente significativa entre la variable "adherencia del terapeuta al tratamiento" y resultados; y tambi\u00e9n para la variable "competencia del terapeuta" y su relaci\u00f3n con los resultados del tratamiento (r+ = .191). Se descart\u00f3 en sesgo de publicaci\u00f3n en ambos meta-an\u00e1lisis. Se obtuvieron altos \u00edndices de heterogeneidad en los tama\u00f1os de efecto encontrados, que llevaron a un an\u00e1lisis de variables moderadoras. Para la variable "adherencia del terapeuta" se construy\u00f3 un modelo explicativo con dos predictores: "tipo de trastorno" y "formaci\u00f3n del investigador principal". Discusi\u00f3n y conclusiones: tanto la "adherencia" como la "competencia" del terapeuta son variables que influyen positivamente sobre los resultados del tratamiento psicol\u00f3gico. El tipo de trastorno influye en la relaci\u00f3n entre "adherencia" y resultados. La fecha de realizaci\u00f3n del estudio fue una variable significativa en el an\u00e1lisis de variables moderadoras para la "adherencia el terapeuta", sin embargo este resultado no estuvo relacionado con las variables metodol\u00f3gicas de los estudios. Los resultados positivos del tratamiento son mayores si el terapeuta que aplica un tratamiento de forma competente sigue un manual de tratamiento. La experiencia del terapeuta es relevante sobre la relaci\u00f3n entre "competencia del terapeuta" y resultados, pero no respecto a la relaci\u00f3n entre "adherencia del terapeuta" y resultados. objectives: the overall objective of this study was to perform a meta-analysis to examine the evidence on the relationship between "therapist adherence" and "therapist competence" and the results of psychological treatment. This general objective was subdivided into six specific objectives and two hypothesis were made. The first was that there were, but probably not statistically significant positive correlation between the degree of adherence of the therapist and treatment efficacy. The second hypothesis was the same, but regarding "therapist competence" variable. These hypothesis were based on the findings of previous investigations. Methodology: we conducted a computerized search in databases: medline, psycinfo, pubmed, psycarticles, psicodoc, eric, isi web of knowledge, academic search premier, cochrane library and google scholar, including studies conducted between 1950 and september, 2013. Descriptors used in english were "therapist adherence and outcome" and "therapist competence and outcome" and in spanish "adherencia del terapeuta and resultados" y "competencia del terapeuta and resultados", that were to appear in the title, abstract or in both. Finally we obtained 24 articles and 31 studies; 24 about "therapist adherence" and 12 about "therapist competence.&Quot; to encode the characteristics of the different studies, a record sheet and a coding manual that included 74 items was developed. The outcome variable was identified in each study reflecting that the effect size of the direct relationship found between the variables "therapist adherence to the treatment protocol" and efficacy of treatment; and "therapist competence" and treatment efficacy. The statistics provided by studies that estimated the effect size object of our analysis was the pearson's correlation coefficient. Two meta-analysis separately, one for the correlation between "therapist adherence" and effectiveness of treatment, and one for the correlation between "therapist competence" and efficacy of treatment were made. Results: a positive moderate and statistically significant correlation (r+ = .232) was obtained between "therapist adherence to treatment" and results; and also for the variable "therapist competence" and its relation to treatment outcome (r+ = .191). It was ruled out publication bias in both meta-analysis. High levels of heterogeneity were obtained in the effect sizes, which led to an analysis of moderator variables. It was constructed an exploratory model for the variable "adherence therapist" with two predictors: "type of disorder" and "training of the principal investigator". Discussion and conclusion: both the "adherence" and "competence" of the therapist are variables that positively influence on the results of psychological treatment. The type of psychological disorder influences the relationship between "therapist adherence" and results. The date of the study was a significant moderator variable in the analysis of the "therapist adherence" variables, however this result was not related to the methodological variables of the studies. The positive results of treatment are greater if the therapist that applies treatment competently follows a treatment manual.
