El poema en prosa \u00e1rabe naci\u00f3 como tal a finales de los a\u00f1os cincuenta del siglo xx y se ha consolidado como uno de los g\u00e9neros claves para entender la modernidad po\u00e9tica \u00e1rabe. Este g\u00e9nero po\u00e9tico ha adquirido, desde entonces, un mayor protagonismo en el panorama po\u00e9tico \u00e1rabe ya que la mayor\u00eda de los poetas de las \u00faltimas generaciones lo cultivan. Los cr\u00edticos literarios coinciden en que este g\u00e9nero es muy dif\u00edcil de catalogar por unir dos conceptos que aparentemente son opuestos; es decir, la poes\u00eda y la prosa.
