Tecnolog\u00edas reproductivas como la criopreservaci\u00f3n y la separaci\u00f3n esperm\u00e1tica mediante citometr\u00eda de flujo, como m\u00e9todo para predeterminar el sexo de la progenie, proporcionan una valiosa herramienta para la mejora gen\u00e9tica. Sin embargo, estos procedimientos normalmente tienen un impacto perjudicial sobre la calidad esperm\u00e1tica, en cierta medida, atribuida a la diluci\u00f3n que se produce durante el procesamiento, y la consiguiente disminuci\u00f3n en la concentraci\u00f3n del plasma seminal (ps).   por ello, esta tesis doctoral propone una serie de experimentos orientados a mejorar el conocimiento sobre la influencia del ps de porcino en la criopreservaci\u00f3n esperm\u00e1tica, evaluando la influencia de la incubaci\u00f3n antes de la congelaci\u00f3n de las muestras esperm\u00e1ticas en su propio ps, proveniente bien del eyaculado completo o bien de alguna de sus fracciones\/porciones, sobre la calidad y la funcionalidad esperm\u00e1tica tras la descongelaci\u00f3n y capacidad de separaci\u00f3n de espermatozoides x e y por citometr\u00eda de flujo, evaluando la relevancia del ps en la variabilidad observada en la eficiencia del proceso de separaci\u00f3n y su posterior repercusi\u00f3n en la calidad y funcionalidad de los espermatozoides separados conservados a 15-17 \u00c2\u00b0c.  en su conjunto estos estudios demuestran que la incubaci\u00f3n de los espermatozoides de porcino en su propio ps influye sobre la capacidad de dichos espermatozoides para soportar la criopreservaci\u00f3n y tambi\u00e9n la separaci\u00f3n esperm\u00e1tica en poblaciones x e y mediante citometr\u00eda flujo. El ps de la fracci\u00f3n post fre tendr\u00eda un efecto negativo sobre la congelabilidad esperm\u00e1tica, mientras que la incubaci\u00f3n de los espermatozoides en presencia de una alta proporci\u00f3n de ps perjudicar\u00eda la eficiencia del proceso de separaci\u00f3n.  palabras clave: semen, criopreservaci\u00f3n, epid\u00eddimo, espermatozoide, semen sexado, plasma seminal, per\u00edodo de incubaci\u00f3n, semen refrigerado, verraco, porcino.    technological advances in pig reproduction have occurred in part because of the growing understanding of the benefits of using boars with superior characteristics in genetic programs. Reproductive technologies such as sperm cryopreservation and sperm sex-sorting by flow cytometry as a method to predetermine the sex of offspring provide a valuable tool for the genetic improvement. However, these methods usually have a detrimental impact on sperm quality, to some extent, attributed to the dilution that occurs during processing, and the resulting decrease in the concentration of seminal plasma (ps). thus, the present doctoral thesis proposes a series of experiments aimed to improve the knowledge of the putative effects of porcine sp on sperm cryopreservation by evaluating the influence of holding time of ejaculate sperm before freezing surrounded in their own sp, from either entire ejaculate or some ejaculate specific fractions\/portions, on post-thawing sperm quality and functionality and on sperm sex-sorting procedure; by evaluating the relevance of ejaculate sp on inter- and intra-boar variability in sperm sortability and on capability of sex-sorted sperm to tolerate liquid storage at 15-17 \u00c2\u00b0c, assessed according to sperm quality and functionality. taken together these experiments show that holding boar sperm in their own sp negatively
