Para evaluar el potencial de los radios de par\u00e9nquima, enfocamos la tesis en los siguientes aspectos: i) definir el mejor m\u00e9todo para cuantificar los radios de par\u00e9nquima, ii) determinar cu\u00e1les factores clim\u00e1ticos afectan su abundancia, iii) evaluar la relaci\u00f3n existente entre la concentraci\u00f3n de carbohidratos no estructurales y la abundancia de radios de par\u00e9nquima, y iv) evaluar la variaci\u00f3n en la abundancia de radios de par\u00e9nquima y crecimiento secundario con la altitud.En el primer cap\u00edtulo evaluamos algunos m\u00e9todos para cuantificar los radios de par\u00e9nquima en pinus sylvestris l. El segundo cap\u00edtulo se explor\u00f3 el potencial de los patrones anuales de los radios de par\u00e9nquima en el xilema como un proxy clim\u00e1tico en juniperus thurifera l. En el tercer cap\u00edtulo investigamos la distribuci\u00f3n espacial de carbohidratos no estructurales (cne) y los radios, as\u00ed como la relaci\u00f3n entre el contenido de cne, crecimiento secundario y abundancia de radios de par\u00e9nquima en pinus sylvestris. En el cuarto cap\u00edtulo se analiz\u00f3 el efecto de la temperatura, precipitaci\u00f3n y sequ\u00eda sobre el crecimiento secundario y abundancia de radios de par\u00e9nquima en juniperus sabina l. A lo largo de un gradiente altitudinal.En vista de los resultados obtenidos durante el desarrollo de la tesis, podemos afirmar que el an\u00e1lisis de las caracter\u00edsticas de los radios de par\u00e9nquima tiene un gran potencial como herramienta complementaria dentro de la dendrocronolog\u00eda en el estudio y reconstrucci\u00f3n de condiciones ambientales
