En la comunidad aut\u00f3noma del pa\u00eds vasco la cifra de c\u00e1ncer oral es alta constituyendo una de las zonas con mayor incidencia a nivel europeo. La carcinog\u00e9nesis oral es un proceso multifactorial en el que est\u00e1n involucrados distintos agentes ambientales, gen\u00e9ticos y epigen\u00e9ticos. El c\u00e1ncer oral en numerosas ocasiones viene precedido por otros procesos de la mucosa oral como la enfermedad liquenoide oral, que es un desorden potencialmente maligno, de car\u00e1cter inflamatorio cr\u00f3nico y origen probablemente autoinmune, que aparece hasta en el 2% de la poblaci\u00f3n y afecta principalmente a mujeres perimenop\u00e1usicas. En el proceso de la carcinog\u00e9nesis se han observado diferentes alteraciones en los patrones epigen\u00e9ticos siendo la metilaci\u00f3n del adn el mecanismo mas estudiado. Nuestro objetivo principal es determinar los patrones de metilaci\u00f3n del adn de las c\u00e9lulas epiteliales de la mucosa oral de pacientes diagnosticados de enfermedad liquenoide oral y evaluar su asociaci\u00f3n con el desarrollo de este desorden oral potencialmente maligno. Para ello hemos analizado los perfiles de metilaci\u00f3n mediante dos arrays de metilaci\u00f3n y posteriormente los marcadores seleccionados se han validado biol\u00f3gicamente en una cohorte independiente.
