Algunos factores extr\u00ednsecos e intr\u00ednsecos est\u00e1n alterados en estos pacientes y su papel en el desarrollo de esas alteraciones no es completamente conocido.  objetivos: investigar el papel de la homociste\u00edna (hcy), \u00e1cidos biliares, \u00f3xido n\u00edtrico (no) y \u00e1cido f\u00f3lico en la funci\u00f3n plaquetaria de ratas con cirrosis experimental.  metodolog\u00eda: se han usado plaquetas de ratas con ligadura del conducto biliar (lcb), en las que se determin\u00f3 su capacidad de agregaci\u00f3n, los niveles de ca2+ intracelular ([ca2+]i) y su regulaci\u00f3n, as\u00ed como el papel de las especies-reactivas de ox\u00edgeno (ros) y la expresi\u00f3n de la p-selectina.  conclusiones: los animales lcb sin ascitis, presentan mayor agregaci\u00f3n, movilizaci\u00f3n de [ca2+]i, producci\u00f3n de ros y expresi\u00f3n de p-selectina y menor entrada de calcio capacitativa (ecc). Los animales lcb con ascitis, sin embargo, no muestran muchas de estas alteraciones. La ausencia de no y\/o la presencia de \u00e1cidos biliares hace que disminuya la ecc en lcb. Some extrinsic and intrinsic factors are altered in these patients and their role in the development of these alterations is not completely known.  objetives: to investigate the role of homocysteine (hcy), bile acids, nitric oxide (no) and folic acid on platelet function of rats with experimental cirrhosis.  methodology: we have used platelets of rats with bile duct ligation (bdl), to measure aggregation, ca2+-intracellular levels and its regulation ([ca2+]i), reactive oxygen species-(ros) and the expression of p-selectin.  conclusions: lcb rats without ascites show greater platelet aggregation, mobilization of [ca2+]i, ros production and expression of p-selectin and less capacitative calcium entry (ecc). In platelets of lcb with ascites, many of these alterations are absent. The absence of no and\/or presence of bile acids reduce ecc in platelets of lcb animals. Folic acid can reverse the hyperaggregation, overexpression of p-selectin, educe the release of ca2+ stores and normalize ros production.  keywords: bile duct ligation (bdl), homocysteine (hcy),
