Para ello se ha medido la velocidad del viento en las dos capas de nubes situadas a ~42km y ~63km de altura sobre la superficie, y se ha obtenido la temperatura atmosf\u00e9rica entre los 55km y 85km de altura dentro del rango de latitudes entre -60\u00c2\u00ba y -90\u00c2\u00ba. El v\u00f3rtice es una estructura permanente en la atm\u00f3sfera de venus. Sin embargo, cambia de forma impredeciblemente en menos de 24 horas. Adem\u00e1s se ha observado que los centros de rotaci\u00f3n del v\u00f3rtice en los dos niveles de altura estudiados no est\u00e1n alineados verticalmente, y que ambos centros deambulan ca\u00f3ticamente alrededor del polo sur del planeta. Por otro lado, el an\u00e1lisis t\u00e9rmico ha mostrado que la estructura m\u00e1s estable frente a movimientos verticales en la regi\u00f3n polar sur de venus es la corriente de aire fr\u00edo que rodea el v\u00f3rtice, mientras que el propio v\u00f3rtice y los filamentos existentes dentro de \u00e9l son menos estables  por \u00faltimo, partiendo del campo de velocidades y del campo de temperatura, se ha calculado la vorticidad potencial de ertel en la cima de las nubes para tres configuraciones distintas del v\u00f3rtice.
