Reid logr\u00f3 detectar los problemas derivados de la estrecha concepci\u00f3n de la raz\u00f3n moderna, y consigui\u00f3 ensancharla por medio de la noci\u00f3n de sentido com\u00fan. En esta investigaci\u00f3n se ha intentado mostrar que su filosof\u00eda colabora en la tarea de superar dos formas de pensamiento viciosas y, al menos aparentemente opuestas entre s\u00ed: el racionalismo de corte moderno \u00c2\u00bfhoy en d\u00eda  transformado tambi\u00e9n en cientificismo, y el escepticismo derivado de las filosof\u00edas racionalistas\u00c2\u00bf hoy en d\u00eda
