Se aisl\u00f3 tras el rastreo de una genoteca de expresi\u00f3n de c\u00e9lulas jurkat procedente de una leucemia humana por el m\u00e9todo del doble h\u00edbrido de levaduras empleando como prote\u00edna grb 3.3, isoforma del adaptador molecular grb2. La prote\u00edna hpttg de 202 amino\u00e1cidos y 22kda es una hom\u00f3loga humana de la prote\u00edna oncog\u00e9nica de rata pttg. Los an\u00e1lisis de su secuencia muestran que tiene un dominio amino muy b\u00e1sico (pi:11,2) y un dominio carboxilo muy \u00e1cido (pi:3,8), adem\u00e1s es una prote\u00edan rica en prolinas que constituyen varios posibles sitios de interacci\u00f3n con dominios sh3 de otras prote\u00ednas y posee varios sitios de fosforilaci\u00f3n por diversas prote\u00edn-quinasas. La localizaci\u00f3n de hpttg es fundamentalmente citos\u00f3lica aunque est\u00e1 parcialmente localizada en el n\u00facleo.  la prote\u00edna hpttg se expresa en tejidos adultos humanos caracterizados por poseer una elevada tasa de proliferaci\u00f3n celular, se expresa en todas las l\u00edneas de laboratorio analizadas, independientemente de su origen, as\u00ed como pr\u00e1cticamente en todas las neoplasias hematopoy\u00e9ticas analizadas. debido a este patr\u00f3n de expresi\u00f3n, se estudi\u00f3 la implicaci\u00f3n de esta prote\u00edna en la proliferaci\u00f3n celular. Para ello, se analiz\u00f3 la expresi\u00f3n end\u00f3gena de la prote\u00edan hpttg en cultivos de l\u00edneas tumorales en los que se indujo experimentalmente quiiescencia y diferenciaci\u00f3n, as\u00ed como en l\u00edneas no tumorales en las que se indujo proliferaci\u00f3n; el resultado fue que la expresi\u00f3n de hpttg est\u00e1 estrechamente relacionada con la proliferaci\u00f3n celular. Asimismo, se comprob\u00f3 que hpttg se acumulaba en la c\u00e9lula a partir de la fase de s\u00edntesis de adn alcanzando el m\u00e1ximo de concentraci\u00f3n enmitosis para luego desaparecer bruscamente en g1.
