En este trabajo participaron 61 participantes que han padecido sensaci\u00f3n de boca seca causada bajo tratamiento con benzodiazepinas. Los participantes fueron divididos en dos grupos: el primero &quot;grupo de estudio&quot; (32 sujetos) aplicaron un sialogogo t\u00f3pico en espray (\u00e1cido m\u00e1lico 1%), mientras que el segundo grupo &quot;grupo de control&quot; (29 sujetos) , aplicaron una pulverizaci\u00f3n placebo; para ambos grupos las pulverizaciones se aplicaron a demanda durante dos semanas. El cuestionario de boca seca (dmq) se utiliz\u00f3 para evaluar los niveles de sequedad de boca antes y despu\u00e9s de la aplicaci\u00f3n del producto\/placebo. Las tasas de flujo salival no estimulado y estimulado se midieron antes y despu\u00e9s de la aplicaci\u00f3n. resultados: las puntuaciones dmq aumentaron significativamente (mejora de la sensaci\u00f3n de boca seca) (p &lt;0,05) despu\u00e9s de la aplicaci\u00f3n de \u00e1cido m\u00e1lico 1%, mientras que las puntuaciones dmq no aumentaron significativamente despu\u00e9s de la aplicaci\u00f3n del placebo (p&gt; 0,05). Despu\u00e9s de dos semanas de la aplicaci\u00f3n \u00e1cido m\u00e1lico 1%, las tasas de flujo salival en reposo y estimulado aumentaron significativamente (p &lt;0,05). Despu\u00e9s de la aplicaci\u00f3n del producto placebo, las tasas de flujo salival en reposo y estimulado no aumentaron significativamente (p&gt; 0,05). conclusi\u00f3n: la aplicaci\u00f3n t\u00f3pica de espray de \u00e1cido m\u00e1lico 1% mejor\u00f3 la sensaci\u00f3n de boca seca y aument\u00f3 las tasas de flujo salival en reposo y estimulado en pacientes con xerostom\u00eda por benzodiazepinas.  efficacy of a topical sialogogue containing 1% malic acid in patients with benzodiazepine-induced dry mouth thesis: juan jos\u00e9 fern\u00e1ndez de rota conde  abstract:  objective: to evaluate the clinical efficacy of a topical sialogogue spray containing 1% malic acid on patients affected by dry mouth caused by benzodiazepines. material and methods: this research took the form of a double-blind, randomized clinical trial. 61 participants with benzodiazepine-induced dry mouth were divided into two groups: for the first &apos;intervention group&apos; (31 subjects) a topical sialogogue spray (1% malic acid) was applied, while for the second &apos;control group&apos; (29 subjects), a placebo spray was applied; for both groups the sprays were applied on demand during two weeks. The dry mouth questionnaire (dmq) was used to evaluate dry mouth levels before and after product\/placebo application. Unstimulated and stimulated salivary flows rates, before and after application, were measured. results: dmq scores increased significantly (improvement of dry mouth) (p &lt;0.05) after 1% malic acid application, whereas dmq scores did not increase significantly after placebo application (p &gt; 0.05). After two weeks of 1% malic acid application, unstimulated and stimulated salivary flows rates increased significantly (p&lt; 0.05). After placebo application, unstimulated and stimulated salivary flows rates did not increase significantly (p &gt; 0.05). conclusion: a sialogogue containing 1% malic acid improved benzodiazepine
