Adem\u00e1s, la literatura previa ha demostrado que la adopci\u00f3n de tecnolog\u00edas por s\u00ed misma no garantiza el \u00e9xito, siendo su utilizaci\u00f3n el nexo que permite la creaci\u00f3n de valor. La mayor\u00eda de trabajos tienen una visi\u00f3n parcial del negocio electr\u00f3nico, con muy pocas aportaciones que analicen el uso del negocio electr\u00f3nico a lo largo de toda la cadena de valor. Por otra parte, la mayor\u00eda de estudios previos han analizado la relaci\u00f3n directa entre negocio electr\u00f3nico y resultados empresariales, con muy pocos trabajos que analicen efectos mediadores o moderadores en esta relaci\u00f3n.  el conocimiento se presenta como un recurso empresarial clave que permite a las empresas desarrollar innovaciones as\u00ed como obtener ventajas competitivas. Sin embargo, la creaci\u00f3n de conocimiento depende en gran medida de habilidades colectivas para compartir y combinar conocimiento. As\u00ed, hay estudios que se\u00f1alan que compartir conocimiento es un antecedente de la innovaci\u00f3n, mientras que otros trabajos sugieren que las tecnolog\u00edas de internet facilitan la creaci\u00f3n e intercambio de conocimiento y pueden favorecer la innovaci\u00f3n. Por tanto, resulta de inter\u00e9s conocer los antecedentes y efectos organizativos que produce el uso de negocio electr\u00f3nico a nivel organizativo y tambi\u00e9n en procesos espec\u00edficos como el intercambio electr\u00f3nico de conocimiento en la pyme. partiendo de los enfoques te\u00f3ricos de tecnolog\u00eda-organizaci\u00f3n-entorno (toe), la teor\u00eda de los recursos y capacidades, la teor\u00eda basada en el conocimiento de la empresa y la teor\u00eda de contingencias, esta tesis doctoral, a partir de una muestra amplia de pymes del sureste de espa\u00f1a, testa emp\u00edricamente, mediante el empleo de la t\u00e9cnica estad\u00edstica de ecuaciones estructurales, varios modelos de investigaci\u00f3n que analizan la influencia de factores toe sobre el uso de negocio electr\u00f3nico a nivel organizativo y el proceso de intercambio electr\u00f3nico de conocimiento en la pyme, respectivamente. Adem\u00e1s, se analizan no s\u00f3lo los efectos directos que tiene el negocio electr\u00f3nico a nivel organizativo y el intercambio electr\u00f3nico de conocimiento sobre los resultados empresariales sino tambi\u00e9n el efecto mediador de la innovaci\u00f3n y otras medidas de resultados intermedios en estas relaciones. Para ello, con el \u00e1nimo de abarcar un an\u00e1lisis lo m\u00e1s completo posible se emplean modelos que miden los resultados empresariales de forma subjetiva y otros que utilizan medidas objetivas de resultados financieros intermedios y finales recopilados a partir de fuentes secundarias.  los resultados obtenidos muestran que los factores toe afectan de forma diferente al uso de negocio electr\u00f3nico a nivel organizativo y el intercambio electr\u00f3nico de conocimiento. Los resultados que relacionan el negocio electr\u00f3nico a nivel organizativo y el intercambio electr\u00f3nico de conocimiento con la innovaci\u00f3n empresarial se\u00f1alan que existe una relaci\u00f3n positiva entre estos constructos. Por lo que respecta a la posible mediaci\u00f3n de la innovaci\u00f3n en las relaciones de negocio electr\u00f3nico a nivel organizativo y el intercambio electr\u00f3nico de conocimiento con el desempe\u00f1o organizativo, se obtiene apoyo parcial para la primera relaci\u00f3n y se confirma la segunda. Adem\u00e1s, los resultados obtenidos se\u00f1alan que la innovaci\u00f3n empresarial media las relaciones entre: 1) el nivel de uso de negocio electr\u00f3nico a nivel organizativo y los costes operativos; y 2) el nivel de uso de negocio electr\u00f3nico a nivel organizativo y los resultados de explotaci\u00f3n. Por \u00faltimo, se obtiene que el efecto positivo del uso de negocio electr\u00f3nico sobre los resultados empresariales est\u00e1 moderado por el conocimiento en tics en la empresa, el nivel de ventas internacionales y el sector industrial.   previous literature tends to examine electronic business (e-business) in large firms, with very few studies analyzing e-business in smes, despite the fact that the importance of smes for economic growth, employment and wealth creation has been widely acknowledged. Moreover, research has shown that, although firms have extensively adopted e-business, the post-adoption stage, that is actual usage, is an important link to business value and such link is sometimes missing, especially in smes. Furthermore, most of previous research focuses on e-business use in specific processes, with very few studies examining the use of e-business along the whole value chain which, according to the existing e-business adoption models, is most advanced stage and the one that produces the best outcomes. At the same time, much of the existing literature examines the direct effect of e-business use on firm performance, while it is less common to find studies analyzing the effect of mediators or moderators in this relationship. Therefore, it is important to understand the key factors that facilitate and motivate the use of e-business along the value chain within sme and its consequences on firm performance. knowledge is a key strategic resource with potential for developing innovations and gaining competitive advantages. However, the ability to create new knowledge depends on the collective ability of employees to share and combine knowledge. In this sense, there are a number of studies that suggest that knowledge sharing is an antecedent of innovation, while other studies suggest that internet facilitate knowledge creation and sharing and offer the chance to innovate. Thus, although most of previous studies focus on e-business use for specific processes, little is known about the antecedents and organizational consequences of e-business use for web knowledge sharing. grounded in the technology-organization-environment (toe) framework, the resource-based view, the knowledge-based view and the contingency theory, this phd thesis develops and empirically tests various research models in the specific context of smes, which assess the influence of technological, organizational and environmental factors on e-business use and web knowledge sharing at the firm levels. The associated hypotheses were tested using structural equation modeling technique on a dataset of smes located in the southeast of spain. Moreover, not only the direct effects of e-business use and web knowledge sharing on firm performance, but also the mediating effects of innovation and other intermediary results in this relations. To achieve these objectives and approach the problem on a more comprehensive manner, research models that measure firm performance from a subjective perspective and others using objective measures of intermediary and final financial measures are employed. the results of the research conducted shows that toe factors influence e-business and web knowledge sharing differently. Results, which test the relationships between e-business and web knowledge sharing with organizational innovation, suggest that there are positive relationships between these constructs. Regarding the possible mediation of innovation in the relationships between e-business and web knowledge sharing with firm performance, partial support is obtained for the first relation while the second is confirmed. Results concerning the research model examining the effect of e-business on objective firm performance point out that organizational innovation mediate the following relations between: 1) e-business use and operative costs; and 2) e-business use and operating performance. Finally, with regard to the influence of toe variables in the relationship between e-business and firm performance, results confirm that the positive effect of e-business on firm performance is
