Es conocido como fuente de metabolitos de esqueleto botriano, principalmente botridial y dihidrobotridial.  el estudio quimico del hongo ha llevado al aislamiento de 25 productos naturales, 9 de ellos reconocidos como nuevas toxinas. El aislamiento de los nuevos productos 4b-acetoxiprobotriano-9b,10b-diol y 4b-aceotoxiprobotriano-9b,15a-diol, nos permiti\u00f3 completar la ruta biosintetica a botridial, estableciendo la estereoquimica de las etapas oxidativas sobre el esqueleto de probotriano.  la realizaci\u00f3n de estudios fitot\u00f3xicos \u00abin vivo\u00bb e \u00abin vitro\u00bb ralizados sobre phaseolus vulgaris, permiti\u00f3 clasificar todos los metabolitos extraidos como fotodependientes: muy activo, activos, moderadamente activos e inactivos.  se detect\u00f3 por primera vez la presencia de botridial \u00abin vivo\u00bb en la zona del tejido infectado concluyendo que este metabolito secundario es una toxina especifica que tiene una participaci\u00f3n activa en el proceso de infecci\u00f3n, reproduce sintomas clor\u00f3ticos y necr\u00f3ticos caracteristicos en la infecci\u00f3n de este hongo, mediante una reacci\u00f3n de activaci\u00f3n de oxigeno fotodinamico.  el botridial es una toxina que puede actuar como factor de virulencia, pero no parece ser un determinante primario de la patogenicidad y del proceso de infecci\u00f3n.  mediante diversos ensayos realizados pudimos determinar la acci\u00f3n de la toxina (botridial) y estudiar el mecanismo de infecci\u00f3n proponiendo un mecanismo de produccion de especies activas de
