Y comparar cualitativamente los microorganismos presentes en las bolsas periodontales a lo largo del estudio.  m\u00e9todo: se seleccionaron treinta y dos pacientes diagnosticados con periodontitis cr\u00f3nica generalizada. La boca de los pacientes fueron divididas en cuatro cuadrantes, para ser aleatoriamente tratados con ozono o con aire durante seis semanas. resultados: hemos tenido un total de 32 pacientes siendo 10 hombres y 22 mujeres. Los cuadrantes tratados con ozono mostraron reducciones en el \u00edndice gingival y en el nivel de inserci\u00f3n cl\u00ednico, estad\u00edsticamente significativas, despu\u00e9s de 6 semanas de tratamiento. Para el \u00edndice de movilidad de miller se registr\u00f3 un porcentaje de mejor\u00eda comprendido entre un 70% y un 86%, en el grupo tratado con ozono. En el grupo control no se encontraron diferencias significativas. El porcentaje de mejor\u00eda del examen cualitativo de la flora subgingival del grupo ozono est\u00e1 comprendido entre un 86% y un 100%. En el grupo control no se encontr\u00f3 mejor\u00eda significativa. En cuanto a la escala visual anal\u00f3gica de mejor\u00eda evaluada por el paciente se han encontrado diferencias significativas entre las semanas 3 y 6, ocurriendo un descenso en la semana 6. Se observ\u00f3 una diferencia entre el tipo de microorganismos encontrados en los cuadrantes tratados con ozono y los encontrados en el grupo control. Esta variaci\u00f3n se reflej\u00f3 como una disminuci\u00f3n del riesgo del grupo ozono. conclusi\u00f3n: los resultados generales de este estudio a doble ciego, apoyan que el tratamiento con ozono controla eficazmente la periodontitis cr\u00f3nica generalizada, en los pacientes tratados en este estudio, mediante la disminuci\u00f3n de los valores del \u00edndice gingival, el nivel de inserci\u00f3n cl\u00ednico periodontal y la movilidad de miller.   abstract objective:  evaluate the effectiveness of medical ozone treatment in patients with generalized chronic periodontitis recording gingival index (l\u00ed\u00b6e y silness, 1963), clinical attachment loss (cal), degree of tooth mobility (measure by miller tooth mobility index) and clinical improvement by the visual analogic scale (vas). And compare qualitatively the microorganisms found in the periodontal pocket throughout the study. methods: thirty two patients diagnosed with generalized chronic periodontitis were selected. The mouth of the patients was divided into four quadrants, to be randomly treated with ozone or air during six weeks. results: we had thirty two patients, ten male and twenty two female. The quadrants treated with ozone showed statistical significant reductions in gingival index and clinical attachment loss, after six weeks of treatment. The miller tooth mobility percentage of improvement was between 70% and 86%, in the group treated with ozone. No significant differences were found in control group. Percentage of improvement for qualitative sub gingival flora exam in ozone group was between 86% and 100%. No significant differences were found in control group. Significant differences were found in visual analogic scale between week three and week six, a decrease occurring at week six. A difference was observed between the microorganisms found in the quadrants treated with ozone and those found in control group.
