El empleo de microorganismos superproductores como ashbya gossypii ha mejorado notablemente el rendimiento del proceso de produccion industrial.  la disponibilidad del precursor inmediato de la ruta de bios\u00ednteis de purinas es una etapa limitante de la producci\u00f3n de la vitamina. En este trabajo se ha abordado la caracterizaci\u00f3n y modificaci\u00f3n de los dos primeros pasos de la ruta de sintesis de purinas, con el fin de aumentar el flujo de metabolitos hacia la formaci\u00f3n de gtp y mejorar, por tanto, la producci\u00f3n de riboflavina en a.Gossypii. La construcci\u00f3n de cepas portadoras de formas mutantes sobreexpresadas de prpp sintetasas ha permitido elevar la producci\u00f3n de riboflavina en un 100%, aunque los datos obtenidos sugieren que la sintesis de prpp no es un paso limitante de la producci\u00f3n de vitamina b2. Por el contrario, mediante la sobreexpresi\u00f3n de formas mutantes de prpp amidotransferasas ha sido posible obtener cepas de a.Gossypii que alcanzan  unos niveles de produccion 10 veces superiores a los de la cepa silvestre. Estos resultados indican que la anulaci\u00f3n de los mecanismos de regulaci\u00f3n a los que esta sometida la sintesis de fosforribosilamina, es suficiente para aumentar la producci\u00f3n de riboflavina.  considerando los trabajos realizados en organismos procari\u00f3ticos respecto a la funci\u00f3n reguladora de fmn y fad sobrela sintesis de riboflavina, se ha identificado y caracterizado el gen fmn1 en saccharomyces cerevisiae y la localizacion subcelular de su producto, la enzima flavokinasa. Los estudios realizados ponen de manifiesto que en eucariotas ni fmn, ni fad ejercen un papel regulador de la biosintesis de riboflavina.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3>Datos acad\u00e9micos de la tesis
