Resumen \tla alfabetizaci\u00f3n en salud, traducci\u00f3n del ingl\u00e9s  &quot;health literacy&quot; (hl), es un concepto relativamente reciente que est\u00e1 cobrando mayor relevancia dentro del campo de la salud. La organizaci\u00f3n mundial de la salud la defini\u00f3 en 1998 en su glosario de promoci\u00f3n de la salud  como &quot;las habilidades cognitivas y sociales que determinan la motivaci\u00f3n y la capacidad de los individuos para poder llegar a comprender y utilizar la informaci\u00f3n de manera que promuevan y mantengan una buena salud&quot;. \t aunque en sus inicios la alfabetizaci\u00f3n en salud fue estudiada  fundamentalmente en el entorno del paciente, limit\u00e1ndose al \u00e1mbito de la atenci\u00f3n sanitaria, hoy d\u00eda resulta un concepto crucial en salud p\u00fablica, abarcando el \u00e1mbito de la prevenci\u00f3n de enfermedades y de la promoci\u00f3n de la salud, refiri\u00e9ndose, en consecuencia, a los ciudadanos en general tengan o no una determinada enfermedad. \tel consorcio europeo de alfabetizaci\u00f3n en salud ha desarrollado una herramienta (hls-eu-q)  para medir y analizar la alfabetizaci\u00f3n en salud de la poblaci\u00f3n europea, habiendo sido utilizada en ocho pa\u00edses europeos.  2. Objetivos \t el objetivo de esta tesis es describir los resultados de la encuesta europea sobre alfabetizaci\u00f3n en salud de la poblaci\u00f3n espa\u00f1ola y  comprobar, a trav\u00e9s de un an\u00e1lisis estad\u00edstico avanzado, qu\u00e9 variables sociodemogr\u00e1ficas presentan una relaci\u00f3n significativa con el grado de alfabetizaci\u00f3n en salud, identificando aquellas que nos describen el perfil de la poblaci\u00f3n con riesgo de tener una alfabetizaci\u00f3n inadecuada o deficiente.  \t 3. Metodolog\u00eda a) an\u00e1lisis documental. se ha tratado de mostrar la complejidad del concepto de alfabetizaci\u00f3n en salud por la diversidad de marcos conceptuales y herramientas disponibles, y se ha presentado al proyecto europeo de alfabetizaci\u00f3n en salud como un intento de dar una visi\u00f3n integral a trav\u00e9s de un marco te\u00f3rico que intenta abarcar e integrar las distintas perspectivas existentes y el dise\u00f1o de una herramienta de medici\u00f3n consensuada entre varios equipos de investigadores de distintos pa\u00edses europeos. b) an\u00e1lisis cuantitativo de los datos. \tpara el an\u00e1lisis de los datos se utiliz\u00f3 el paquete estad\u00edstico spss versi\u00f3n 15.0 para windows. Se realiz\u00f3 an\u00e1lisis descriptivo: las variables cuantitativas se describieron mediante su media y desviaci\u00f3n est\u00e1ndar, las variables cualitativas se describieron mediante su distribuci\u00f3n de frecuencias absolutas y relativas. Para comprobar que variables presentan una relaci\u00f3n significativa con la alfabetizaci\u00f3n en salud se elabor\u00f3 un \u00edndice general  de alfabetizaci\u00f3n en salud a partir de los resultados de la encuesta.  \tse realiz\u00f3 un an\u00e1lisis de varianza del \u00edndice con las distintas variables, considerando significativas las que obten\u00edan una p&lt;0.05. Con las variables obtenidas se realizaron unas comparaciones m\u00faltiples para determinar qu\u00e9 grupos de las variables presentan diferencias significativas entre s\u00ed.  4. Resultados \ten la poblaci\u00f3n espa\u00f1ola los factores que presentan una relaci\u00f3n significativa con las variaciones en el \u00edndice de alfabetizaci\u00f3n en salud son la edad, tener hijos, nivel de estudios alcanzado, estatus social percibido, nivel de ingresos netos por hogar, valoraci\u00f3n de la propia salud, padecer una enfermedad cr\u00f3nica, el n\u00famero de visitas al m\u00e9dico en el \u00faltimo a\u00f1o, y la frecuencia con la que realiza ejercicio f\u00edsico.  \tde todas las variables, la edad,  el nivel de educaci\u00f3n y la valoraci\u00f3n de la propia salud,  son las que presentan un coeficiente de determinaci\u00f3n mayor sobre el \u00edndice de alfabetizaci\u00f3n en salud. \tla poblaci\u00f3n con mayor riesgo de tener una baja alfabetizaci\u00f3n en salud son personas con un nivel educativo bajo,  con una valoraci\u00f3n negativa de su propia salud, que no practican ejercicio y con una d\u00e9bil red de apoyo social.    1. Abstract  health literacy is a relatively new concept that is gaining importance within the field of health. The world health organization defined it in 1998 in his glossary of health promotion as &quot;the cognitive and social skills which determine the motivation and ability of individuals to be able to understand and use information in ways that promote and maintain good health &quot;. although in its beginnings health literacy was studied primarily in the patient environment, limiting the field of healthcare, today is a crucial concept in public health covering the field of disease prevention and health promotion, referring therefore to the general public  and not only a population with a particular disease. the european consortium of health literacy has developed a tool (hls -eu-q) to measure and analyze health literacy of the european populatio , being tested  in eight european countries. 2. Objetives the aim of this work is to describe the results of the european survey of health literacy (hls-eu) of the spanish population, and check by statistical analysis, which sociodemographic variables are significantly related to the degree of health literacy, identifying those that describe the profile of the population at risk for inadequate or poor literacy. 3. Metodology we tried to show the complexity of the concept of health literacy by the diversity of frameworks and tools available, and has been submitted to the european project of health literacy as an attempt to give a comprehensive view through a theoretical framework that attempts cover and integrate the different perspectives and the design of a measuring tool consensus among several teams of researchers from different european countries. for data analysis we used spss version 15.0 for windows. Descriptive analysis was performed: quantitative variables were described by mean and standard deviation, and the qualitative variables were described by distribution of absolute and relative frequencies. To verify which variables have a significant relationship with general health literacy, we developed a health literacy index from the results of the survey. an analysis of variance of the index with the different variables was performed, considering they obtained significant at p &lt;0.05. With the variables obtained a multiple comparisons were performed to determine which groups of variables have significant differences. 4.
