Melanogaster es el objeto del presente trabajo. Este nuevo mutante recesivo y ligado al sexo se caracteriza porque los individuos pertenecientes a este fenotipo presentan los ojos de color carmin oscuro bien diferenciados de los ojos rojos que presentan los individuos del fenotipo silvestre. Se trata de una mutacion puntiforme acaecido en un locus que se encuentra localizado a 0.5 centimetros del gen  as  y a 1 0 centimetros del gen  y .
