Se presenta una formulacion numerico basada en el metodo de los elementos de contorno  que permite el estudio  en el dominio de lafrecuencia  de los coeficientes de rigidez de cimentaciones superficiales o enterradas  de caracteristicas bi o tridimensionales soportadas en un perfil de suelo estratificado de geometria cualquiera considerandose cada estrato como un medio lineal viscoelastico de propiedades distintas y contemplandose la posibilidad de existencia de un semiespacio bajo ellos. Asimismo se estudian los problemas de difraccion de ondas a traves de tales medios incorporando una formulacion para el tratamiento de cimentaciones rigidas. Todo ello se plasma endiversos estudios parametricos que aportan luz sobre la importancia de los diversos factores en el problema real y permite hacer consideraciones sobre el rango de validez de las
