Estas parejas se ordenan en hileras dependiendo su orientacion del primodio que van a originar.  la pared del quiste presenta cuatro envueltas morfologicamente distintas: ectoquiste  mesoquiste y capa granulosa. Los estudios citoquimicos indican que el mesoquiste es rico en glicosaminoglicanos fuertemente sulfatados  el endoquiste contiene glicoproteinas neutras y la capa granulosa glicoproteinas acidas.
