La reaccion de la triazoloquinolina con organoliticos  da lugar a un 3-litio derivado probablemente a traves de un mecanismo acido-base; cuando en la posicion 3 hay un grupo fuertemente ortodirector de la litiacion  como el grupo carboxamida terciaria  la litiacion se produce mediante un proceso de litiacion dirigida  en posicion 4.  aprovechando estas propiedades se han obtenido una serie de triazoloquinolinas 3-sustituidas  triazoloquinolinas 3 4-disustituidas y de quinolinas 2 3-disustituidas asimetricamente.  tambien se ha realizado un estudio semejante con la 1 2 3-triazolo(5 1-a)
