El sistema es intrinsecamente diferente al caso de coherencia parcial convencional pero ofrece ventajas similares en lo que respecta a la reduccion de ruido  efectos de borde y otros efectos de la coherencia. Por otro lado el tratamiento matematico se simplifica considerablemente y es mucho mas sencillo de realizar y controlar experimentalmente permitiendo simulaciones sencillas de casos practicos.  se han estudiado las caracteristicas del proceso de formacion de imagenes a partir de la imagen de test tipicos en evaluacion de imagenes y se ha aplicado a dos casos practicos de filtrado optico espacial:
