Se han aislado  por el metodo del paseo cromosomico  130 kb de dna que abarca el complejo achaete-scute y el locus yellow  construyendose un mapa fisico de este dna con 8 endonucleasas de restriccion. Se han determinado las modificaciones en el dna asociadas a 25 mutaciones del complejo por comparacion de sus patrones de restriccion con los del tipo silvestre y por posterior construccion de
