El tratamiento de estas monoiminas con distintos agentes nucleofilos (agua  metanol  ion hidruro aminas) conduce a productos de fragmentacion a traves de un proceso retroenico que no habia sido descrito con anterioridad en este tipo de sistemas. La reactividad fotoquimica de las 1-fenil-3-imino-2 2-dimetil-2-propanonas conduce a la formacion de isobutirofenona y el correspondiente isonitrilo como productos principales en un proceso consistente en una transferencia electronica desde el atomo de nitrogeno al grupo carbonilo. Seguido de fision directa del enlace c -c respecto del grupo carbonilo. Se ha estudiado la reduccion de las 1 3-iminocetonas con agentes de distinto grado de dureza.
