Asi siempre en base a la optimizacion de un metodo de obtencion de alquilisotiazoles a partir de substratos tan versatiles como las b-dicetonas  y  bien a traves del proceso de sintesis  bien a traves del patron de sustitucion en los substratos de partida  se han conseguido sustituciones variadas en la posicion c-4 del 3 5-dimetilisotiazol. Los 4-alquil o 4-acilisotiazoles asi obtenidos  se ofrecen como sintones versatiles en quimica preparativa  pues la facil apertura del sistema heterociclico permite su eliminacion una vez terminada su mision como intermediario sintetico. Para la formacion de 4x-carbaniones isotiazolicos  los dialquilamiduros de litio han mostrado ser las bases mas adecuadas  y el nitrilo 3 5-dimetil-4-isotiazolilacetico  un substrato mucho mas
