Tambi\u00e9n escribi\u00f3 art\u00edculos, ensayos y estudios hist\u00f3ricos y biogr\u00e1ficos. Es autor de dos novelas (el jard\u00edn de las frailes y fresdeval), una obra de teatro (la corona), y un di\u00e1logo (la velada en benicarl\u00f3). Adem\u00e1s escribi\u00f3 numerosos diarios a lo largo de su vida, en particular las tituladas memorias pol\u00edticas y de guerra, escritas durante sus a\u00f1os de gobierno.  del estudio de la obra literaria, de la obra autobiogr\u00e1fica y de la biograf\u00eda del autor, se deduce que la bora literaria de aza\u00f1a est\u00e1 inspirada en su propia vida.  adem\u00e1s, los textos autobiogr\u00e1ficos, por lo menos hasta las memorias, sirven de borrador para la obra literaria de aza\u00f1a.  tanto la obra autobiogr\u00e1fica como la obra de creaci\u00f3n literaria est\u00e1n  dirigidas a la creaci\u00f3n de un personaje que acaba teniendo una proyecci\u00f3n p\u00fablica importante.  este personaje es una creaci\u00f3n voluntaria y consciente del autor, que no duda en variar e incluso falsear su experiencia vital, la historia familiar y la realidad para crearlo.  este personaje no es s\u00f3lo una m\u00e1scara social que disimula una intimidad que se quiere velar o disimular.
