El concilio de trento manda fundar seminarios  pero fueron muchas las dificultades para erigir el de mallorca y no menos para mantenerlo. Desde mitad del s. Xix va elevandose el nivel cientifico de algunos sacerdotes; de las aulas del seminario han salido alumnos capacitados para regentar las catedras y asumir grandes responsabilidades civiles y
