Resulta crucial dise\u00f1ar modelos que representen de forma adecuada la realidad. Sin embargo, existe una relaci\u00f3n evidente entre la precisi\u00f3n necesaria en un modelo y su complejidad. Si el modelo es demasiado simple, no podr\u00e1 representar adecuadamente las caracter\u00edstics relevantes del sistema y no servir\u00e1 para nuestros prop\u00f3sitos. Por otro lado,un modelo demasiado complejo no satisface su principal funci\u00f3n, la de facilitar la comprensi\u00f3n del comportamiento del sistema modelado, resultando in\u00fatil en la pr\u00e1ctica.  una de las formas m\u00e1s interesantes de realizar esta representaci\u00f3n consiste en emplear reglas si entonces mediante el empleo de la l\u00f3gica difusa. En el proceso de modelado, estas reglas se emplean dentro  de lo que se conoce como un sistema basado en reglas difusas (sbrd). Dependiendo del tipo de sbrd que consideremos, podemos realizar distintas clases de modelado atendiendo a diferentes requisitos. Principalmente, podemos distinguir dos tipos de modelado con carcter\u00edsticas enfrentadas: modelado ling\u00ed\u00bc\u00edstico (ml) y modelado difuso (md). Mientras que el primero atiende fundamentalmente al poder descriptivo de los sbrds, buscando modelos con una gran comprensibilidad (legibilidad o interpretabilidad), el segundo busca fundamentalmente alcanzar un alto grado de precisi\u00f3n.  en general, la alta interpretabilidad se obtiene imponiendo ciertas restricciones mediante el uso de variables ling\u00ed\u00bc\u00edsticas, lo cual conlleva que los sbrds sean m\u00e1s r\u00edgidos. Por el contra, la precisi\u00f3n se persigue relajando dichas restricciones para hacer a los sbrds m\u00e1s flexibles, resign\u00e1ndose a la consecuente p\u00e9rdida de la legibilidad. Esta flexibilidad en el proceso de modelado indica la capacidad potencial de aproximarse al problema que se est\u00e1 resovliendo.
