La parte experimental comenzo con la seleccion de ocho materiales (diatomita  sepiolita  atapulgita y bentonitas naturales y tratadas)  el estudio de metodos de sulfuracion y la preparacion de familias del material sulfurado con cargas entre10-30% de azufre. Se continuo con un ensayo generalizado a todos los materiales preparados sobre su actividad para la absorcion e incorporacion de mercurio en atmosfera estatica.  finalmente  los materiales optimizados se estudiaron en regimen dinamico similar a la corriente de hidrogeno industrial comparando los resultados con los de un carbon sulfurado comercial. Por diversas tecnicas fisico-quimicas se ha tratado de explicar la influencia de la composicion quimica y textura de los materiales de partida en la cinetica de retencion del azufre  y el efecto de la
