Se han determinado las concentraciones de halogenos en una amplia serie de carbones brutos y lavados por medio de la aplicacion de tecnicas analiticas sencillas puestas a punto en este trabajo (electrodos selectivos de iones). Se ha estudiado la relacion de los elementos halogenados con la materia organica o mineral del carbon  y se ha podido llegar a predecir en parte la naturaleza de sus compuestos.  en contra de la opinion muy generalizada sobre la naturaleza inorganica de los compuestos de cloro presentes en el carbon  que supone en muchos casos que el compuestos principal es el nacl  en este trabajo se pone de manifiesto la clara relacion existente en los carbones asturianos entre compuestos de cloro y materia organica  y la ausencia de nacl  asi como la naturaleza mineral de los compuestos de fluor  que
