El sistema tiene en cuenta tres mercados de carne porcina alternativos: 1) basado en peso en vivo, 2)basado en meritos de la canal (porcentaje de magro) y 3) basado en el valor de las piezas nobles resultantes del despiece del animal.  el objetivo del sistema es determinar la mejor estrategia de envio para cada uno de los genotipos que se han estudiado (alternativas de produccion) dependiendo del mercado donde seran enviados los animales. Ademas, tambien ha sido estudiado el efecto de la varibilitat biologica de los animales dentro del lote sobre los valores economicos.  tambien se ha considerado la opcion de enviar los animales en diversas etapas para homogeneizar el peso de los animales enviados. Este problema ha sido estudiado bajo el enfoque de programacion dinamica.  en un futuro los mercados de carne porcina tendran la tendencia a ser mas definidos, por lo tanto la produccion en la fase de
