La heterogeneidad de la distribucion ha sido puesta de manifiesto gracias a una compleja instalacion experimental que permite el calculo de la distribucion de forma puntual a la escala de particula. Se ha comprobado que el modelo difusional normalmente aplicado para explicar la distribucion de liquido en un lecho bacteriano. El unico modelo capaz de tener en cuenta la heterogeneidad de la distribucion del flujo de liquido es el modelo de percolacion.
