Desde ya mucho antes de la reconquista, Valencia se configuro como un gran centro artesano heredero de los conocimientos de siria y persia, que dispuso de una solida base alquimista capaz de crear grandes centros alfareros del nivel de manises y paterna; la primera corporacion de la espa\u00f1a cristiana de apothecarios, o la gran industria tintorera de los curtidos y las sedas, entre muchas otras.  los llamados \u00abdescubrimientos\u00bb de van eyck fueron solo posibles gracias a los estrechos contactos con lluis dalmau, mantenidos repetidamente en las distintas visitas que hizo a Valencia el pintor flamenco, donde descubrio gomas, resinas, balsamos, disolventes y muchos productos exoticos mas su adecuada manipulacion. La comparacion entre distintos manuscritos medievales y el libro de cennino cennini coetaneo de lluis dalmau y de van eyck, es una de las claves importantes que han podido conducir a la evidencia de
