Posteriormente se demostr\u00f3 la actividad antioxidante del extracto metan\u00f3lico frene a modelos de peroxidaci\u00f3n lip\u00eddica y como captador de radicales libres.Recio y cols. (1991) aislaron a partir de h. Stoechas tres compuestos con actividad antiinflamatoria identificados como \u00e1cido urs\u00f3lico, gnafali\u00edna y 4-hidroxi-3(3-metil-2-butenil)acetofenona. estos compuestos dieron una actividad similar a la del f\u00e1rmaco de referencia (indometacina) en el edema agudo inducido por acetato de tetradecanoilforbol (tpa). Dicho tax\u00f3n est\u00e1 relacionado con h. Italicum, presentado ambos una composici\u00f3n qu\u00edmica cualitativamente igual.  los cap\u00edtulos florales de h. Italicum una vez recolectados y secados se extraen por maceraci\u00f3n con metanol. Eliminado el disolvente, los extractos se purifican mediante fraccionamiento l\u00edquido\/l\u00edquido en ampolla de decantaci\u00f3n, con disolventes de polaridad creciente, obteni\u00e9ndose as\u00ed los extractos hex\u00e1nico, dicloromet\u00e1nico, acetato-et\u00edlico y butan\u00f3lico. La actividad antiinflamatoria de los extractos se determina en diversos modelos experimentales: edema en oreja de rat\u00f3n inducido por \u00e1cido araquid\u00f3nico, tpa y fenilpropiolato de etilo, inflamaci\u00f3n cr\u00f3nica inducida por aplicaci\u00f3n repetida de tpa y reacciones de hipersensibilidad retardada inducida por oxazolona, dinitrofluorobenceno y eritrocitos de cordero. Tambi\u00e9n se ensayan en el modelo del edema agudo en pata de rat\u00f3n inducido por fosfolipasa a2 y serotonina. In vitro, se determina la actividad antioxidante de los extractos frente a modelos de peroxidaci\u00f3n lip\u00eddica y captadora de radicales libres.  los extractos antiinflamatorios y\/o
