Todas ellas abordan el tema de la violencia del g\u00e9nero desde un planteamiento did\u00e1ctico pues su efecto en el lector o espectador es el de disuadirle de que acepte la violencia contra la mujer-f\u00edsica, psicol\u00f3gica o verbal como un mero juego o acto justificado.  el an\u00e1lisis de las obras se fundamenta principalmente en dos modelos te\u00f3ricos: los escritos sobre teatro de bertolf brecht y la cr\u00edtica teatral feminista. No obstante, tambi\u00e9n se incorporan conceptos teatrales de mija\u00edl bajt\u00edn,antonin artaud y vsevolod meyerhold entre otros.  el trabajo anal\u00edtico se estructura en dos bloques: el primero, dedicado a los grupos teatrales feministas vinculados a los movimientos de concienciaci\u00f3n de la mujer en estdos unidos, y el segundo bloque a autoras individuales. entre dichas escritoras figuran mar\u00eda irene forn\u00e9s, ntozake shange, megan terry y marsha norman. Asimismo, uno de los cap\u00edtulos tambi\u00e9n aporta nuevas interpretaciones sobre cuatro piezas teatrales del dramaturgo sam shepard que clarifica la distinci\u00f3n entre los elementos en una obra literaria que educan y aqu\u00e9llos que participan del culto a la violencia.  tras el an\u00e1lisis de las piezas teatrales, el \u00fatlimo cap\u00edtulo establece una serie de claves a nivel de contenido para distinguir los dos tipos de tratamiento de la violencia en una obra literaria.
